PENNY PINCH

THE ARTIST

Penny Pinch is a Chicago-based street artist who does not spend money on art, using only free and found materials. He is best known for his "Pinch" character, which is a man in a "buffalo costume." His style is simple, repetitive, sarcastic, and comforting.

"I wanted to make a statement that centered on reusing and recycling. The collection itself has reused and recycled materials. We only have one Earth. Let's be good to it."

He is passionate about encouraging creativity in others and believes that art is for everyone. His work can be found on Instagram: @_pennypinch_

GATEWAY GREEN

THE GOOD

Founded in 1986 by Donald J. DePorter, Chicago Gateway Green is a nonprofit, public-private partnership dedicated to the greening and beautification of Chicago’s expressways, gateways and neighborhoods through landscape enhancement, litter and graffiti removal and the installation of public art.

The Expressway Program is unique from traditional Adopt-A-Highway programs. With the support of the City of Chicago, Illinois Department of Transportation, and Corporate Sponsors, Chicago Gateway Green develops and maintains sweeping sustainable landscapes along our City’s expressways. Gateway Green's 100 Expressway gardens feature native shrubs, trees and perennials surrounding its signature Oak Leaf sign, along with the sponsor’s logo. Gateway Green works closely with professional landscape crews to provide plant care, weed control, mowing and litter removal from April through October.
